The Accreditation Board
The Accreditation Board is a wide representation of organisations
having either a direct or indirect interest in
accreditation. Members come from the public sectors
i.e. from government ministries and authorities;
from the private sector i.e. from the Chamber of
Commerce and Enterprise and the Federation of
Industry and also from the consumers which is
represented by the Consumers Association.
The
Accreditation Board operates according to an established terms of reference
approved by the Ministry of Finance, the Economy and Investment:
• to provide advice on technical
issues, business strategy and promotion of
accreditation;
• to provide advice and guidance on the operation
and development of an accreditation scheme;
• to provide assistance on general matters of policy
and organisation relating to the functions and
activities of the NAB-Malta;
• to take the decision on the granting/withdrawal of
accreditation based on the report presented by the
Head of the NAB-Malta;
• to approve the setting up and disbanding of
technical committees following advice received from
the Head of the NAB-Malta. These technical
committees will be set up on a temporary basis and
will provide scientific and technical advice on
specific areas of expertise;
• to examine proposals for new accreditation
projects and make recommendation on how to proceed
in pursuance of these proposals.
