Extension to Scope for WSC Laboratory
The
National Accreditation Board has recently decided to extend the
scope of accreditation of the Water Services Corporation to
include three test methods in the filed of waste water testing.
The laboratory of the Water Services Corporation is responsible
for the testing of all potable water produced by the Corporation
as well as for the testing of waste waters and treated effluents
as part of its responsibility for Malta’s drain water system.
This has been the first laboratory in Malta to achieve
accreditation in 2003 according to the international standard
ISO17025 which defines general requirements for the competence
of testing and calibration laboratories. The laboratory is
accredited for chemical and bacteriological water sampling and
for a number of chemical tests in the field of water quality.
The WSC Laboratory has in fact already passed through it first
five year accreditation cycle and during this period the
NAB-MALTA could notice the continual improvements made.
Originally this laboratory held joint accreditation from the
NAB-MALTA and UKAS however since the signing of the EA MLA
(Multi Lateral Agreement) by the NAB-MALTA, the accreditation is
now solely with the NAB-MALTA
